Time For Some Rest

We need to remember to rest simply because we’re currently in these earthly bodies. I like these verses and hope you enjoy them and the music of Jaci Velasquez.

Exodus 33:14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

14 And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Shawn Bolz & The Love Process

Shawn Bolz is speaking tonight at Summit Church. You better hurry if you want to see him tonight. I’m leaving in 15 minutes to volunteer. If you get there at 7 pm when it starts you will likely be standing! There’s even a chance that there won’t be enough room for everybody. You CAN watch The Fire & Glory Outpouring on ElishaRevolution.com.

Earlier I searched Youtube and found this old snippet of Shawn Bolz talking about God’s love process. Enjoy!

God bless you!

What’s Your Philippians Opinion?

Until I typed those words I hadn’t noticed how amusing they might sound.
(I’ll give you a minute while you hear someone with your favorite accent ask that question in your head.)

***
Philippians 3:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
***

After reading that, what should we do? I think it’s fairly simple.

Press on. As in, persevere.

Sometimes things are happening that make pressing on seem like a big challenge.

What then?

You have probably heard that we’re not supposed to complain.

***
Philippians 2:14 New International Version (NIV)

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing,
***

I believe there is definitely one exception.

Complain to God if you need to complain (petition). He’s ready to hear what you’ve got to say. Be honestly yourself with God and be honest ABOUT yourself with God. He’s got your back. And He’s always ready to give you more of the peace that passes all understanding when you seek Him.

What you and I have to do is remember to do what is says in another section of Philippians. We have to “press in” by worshiping, praying and otherwise seeking intimacy with God.

***
Philippians 4:6-7 New International Version (NIV)

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
***

Keep pressing on. Keep “pressing in” with God.

Press On. Press In. Repeat.

Like on the back of a shampoo bottle.

That is all.

God bless you!

Are You Leaning On His Glory-Strength?

Earlier today I wasn’t having a great time. For what was the third time in less than a week, one of our vehicles was in the shop. I met a nice man named Napoleon at Summit Church’s worship service on New Year’s Day and decided to try out his place, Bumper 2 Bumper, to fix the bumper on our new (used) vehicle.

In the process I let little things get to me and my wife and I ended up having an small argument. Even though we got to enjoy going out for breakfast while Napoleon’s crew worked on our car, I was bothered by something. I had read Colossians this morning and I thought I was ready for the day. Fortunately my wife is a teacher and has a few more days off. She urged me to cuddle up with her later when we got home and I ended up taking a nap.

Where am I going with this?

In the passage from Colossians below we’re reminded to lean on God’s glory-strength instead of the “grim strength of gritting your teeth”.

How do we do that?

I believe that frequent worship is an enormous help because if we are truly worshiping we are reminded that we are in the presence of God and that can mean we are impacted by his “tangible” glory.

Our culture doesn’t make it easy to spend lots of time in worship. This is not about making anyone feel guilty. This is about logical consequences.

If you spend more time exercising, you will see the results in your physical health.

If you spend more time worshiping, you will see the results in your spiritual health.

Now is the time to make changes. Even our culture makes it easier at the start of a new year. Regardless of when you’re reading this, I urge you to worship God more frequently in Spirit and in Truth.

Whatever you’re doing currently, why not add The Fire & Glory Outpouring? Attend in person or watch LIVE or recorded on Youtube.

My wife and I and a couple friends are attending at Summit Church tonight in San Marcos across from Cal State and I am really ready! (Boy, am I ready!)

Check out these verses from Colossians 1!

Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.
