Why Reblog Rae 24 Times?

If you’re like me you haven’t read Revelation very much because so many people want to talk about the enemy and forget that the book of Revelation is about Jesus. Listen to Jerame Nelson from the Fire & Glory Outpouring long enough and he will get around to mentioning that fact. (Incidentally, Jerame & Miranda’s new site is ElishaRevolution.com.)

After hearing him preach that enough times I finally read Revelation a few weeks ago. Something else I didn’t really know or had forgotten is the 24 elders who are mentioned in Revelation 4:10-11. (Read the verses at Bible Gateway in two translations side-by-side!) I believed that a way to highlight the 24 elders and help us remember them was to reblog Rae’s posts from RealAsTheStreets.org 24 times. So that’s what I did. Hopefully, doing that has gotten your attention!

In addition, the first song below is based on Revelation and it’s about Jesus, not his enemy.

Time For Some Rest

We need to remember to rest simply because we’re currently in these earthly bodies. I like these verses and hope you enjoy them and the music of Jaci Velasquez.

Are You Leaning On His Glory-Strength?

Earlier today I wasn’t having a great time. For what was the third time in less than a week, one of our vehicles was in the shop. I met a nice man named Napoleon at Summit Church’s worship service on New Year’s Day and decided to try out his place, Bumper 2 Bumper, to fix the bumper on our new (used) vehicle.

In the process I let little things get to me and my wife and I ended up having an small argument. Even though we got to enjoy going out for breakfast while Napoleon’s crew worked on our car, I was bothered by something. I had read Colossians this morning and I thought I was ready for the day. Fortunately my wife is a teacher and has a few more days off. She urged me to cuddle up with her later when we got home and I ended up taking a nap.

Where am I going with this?

In the passage from Colossians below we’re reminded to lean on God’s glory-strength instead of the “grim strength of gritting your teeth”.

How do we do that?

I believe that frequent worship is an enormous help because if we are truly worshiping we are reminded that we are in the presence of God and that can mean we are impacted by his “tangible” glory.

Our culture doesn’t make it easy to spend lots of time in worship. This is not about making anyone feel guilty. This is about logical consequences.

If you spend more time exercising, you will see the results in your physical health.

If you spend more time worshiping, you will see the results in your spiritual health.

Now is the time to make changes. Even our culture makes it easier at the start of a new year. Regardless of when you’re reading this, I urge you to worship God more frequently in Spirit and in Truth.

Whatever you’re doing currently, why not add The Fire & Glory Outpouring? Attend in person or watch LIVE or recorded on Youtube.

My wife and I and a couple friends are attending at Summit Church tonight in San Marcos across from Cal State and I am really ready! (Boy, am I ready!)

Check out these verses from Colossians 1!

Be assured that from the first day we heard of you, we haven’t stopped praying for you, asking God to give you wise minds and spirits attuned to his will, and so acquire a thorough understanding of the ways in which God works. We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making him proud of you as you work hard in his orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that he has for us.

Birthday Presents For Marianne

Today is my wife’s birthday so I’ll be short. Please consider giving her a birthday present which you can do on any day you read this or remember.

Here are your choices:

1) Participate in worship at The Fire & Glory Outpouring either live or online.

2) Get yourself a hard copy (or Kindle version) of The Message (Bible).

Read it FREE!

3) Watch an Elisha Revolution video.

4) Check out Ivan Roman (around 1:03:50) at Fresh Awakening during the revival.

Why four choices? Just a reminder that their are four faces of God in Ezekiel.

I really love The Message’s paraphrase of these verses. I shared it with a friend from Lithuania and she loved it! (She and another young woman both came from Lithuania to The Fire & Glory Outpouring by simply trusting God for provision!)

Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.

Citizens Of Heaven

What a wonderful New Year’s Day (and New Year’s Eve) we had! I’ll share about that another time, except to say that my wife and I attended The Fire & Glory Outpouring both nights and two regular worship services Sunday morning. If we include Saturday morning and afternoon I went to five worship services and my honey went to six in two days!

Last January I would have thought you were crazy (Though I PROBABLY wouldn’t have said it out LOUD!) if you told me I would participate in real congregational worship this often. Yet here I am. I encourage you to worship God more often in Spirit and in Truth. I believe I’m experiencing real effects in my life and in my intimacy with Jesus. This has everything to do with God and I deserve no credit except possibly for CHOOSING to seek intimacy with Holy Spirit.

Quite a long time ago I heard a verse that promises if you truly seek God you will find him. Because of my experience in personal development I remember realizing that what many people are seeking is fulfillment and that’s not necessarily the same as seeking God. In fact, I probably starting thinking about personal development in this way because of a wonderful and highly intelligent woman who was our senior pastor for a while at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, Roberta Hestenes. I asked people from time to time and don’t remember ever getting what I considered the right verse in response. (To be fair, I don’t think I ever asked Roberta Hestenes or our current senior pastor, Mike McClenahan.) I believe I found it with the help of Google and Bible Gateway.

Personally I have found The Message very helpful in understanding through modern language. Even if you normally read from a certain translation I highly recommend that you also read The Message for clarity. I’ve experience the Psalms and Epistles really coming alive for me recently when I’ve read The Message translation, which I believe is technically a paraphrase.

I’ve included two translations of the relevant verses. Also remember what I mentioned in the New Year’s Day post – Try New Things In This New Year!

Take hold of this promise!

But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.
Deuteronomy 4:29 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

But even there, if you seek God, your God, you’ll be able to find him if you’re serious, looking for him with your whole heart and soul. When troubles come and all these awful things happen to you, in future days you will come back to God, your God, and listen obediently to what he says. God, your God, is above all a compassionate God. In the end he will not abandon you, he won’t bring you to ruin, he won’t forget the covenant with your ancestors which he swore to them.

My birthday is coming up on February 28th and if you could give me a present I guess I would first choose for you to actually attend The Fire & Glory Outpouring in San Marcos, California which I think is going through 2017. (Of course, Jerame & Miranda Nelson listen to Holy Spirit for direction so who can know the mind of God in advance?)

A very close second place gift would be for you to get The Message and read it often to help you receive God’s message in language that’s pretty easy to understand. I have The Message on my Kindle and computer, but I think today or tomorrow I’m going order or go and get a hard copy so I can read it when my internet connection is funky. Hopefully you are already watching The Fire & Glory Outpouring on Youtube. Don’t forget to watch old “episodes” (as I like to call them) in addition to watching LIVE on Youtube while worship is going on.

Today I’m leaving you with verses I read this morning during what many call quiet time. I have a friend who has said quite often that he’s a citizen of heaven and I believe that’s important to keep in mind. It’s helpful to remember where our authority comes from in relation to our identity as believers.

But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He’ll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him.

How To Hold On

If the title of this post is meaningful to you, I find reading Psalms prayerfully helps quite a bit. I found this translation at BibleGateway.com.

Psalm 32 The Message (MSG)

A David Psalm

32 Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be—
you get a fresh start,
your slate’s wiped clean.
2 Count yourself lucky—
God holds nothing against you
and you’re holding nothing back from him.
3 When I kept it all inside,
my bones turned to powder,
my words became daylong groans.
4 The pressure never let up;
all the juices of my life dried up.
5 Then I let it all out;
I said, “I’ll make a clean breast of my failures to God.”
Suddenly the pressure was gone—
my guilt dissolved,
my sin disappeared.
6 These things add up. Every one of us needs to pray;
when all hell breaks loose and the dam bursts
we’ll be on high ground, untouched.
7 God’s my island hideaway,
keeps danger far from the shore,
throws garlands of hosannas around my neck.
8 Let me give you some good advice;
I’m looking you in the eye
and giving it to you straight:
9 “Don’t be ornery like a horse or mule
that needs bit and bridle
to stay on track.”
10 God-defiers are always in trouble;
God-affirmers find themselves loved
every time they turn around.
11 Celebrate God.
Sing together—everyone!
All you honest hearts, raise the roof!

God loves you!

I’m finding Crowder’s “I AM” helpful right now. Take it to heart.

God Showed Me Jamie Gates Through Pedro Enriquez

If you’re like me you want to know that you’re being directed by God when you actually ask God for direction. I’ve asked God to make it more clear. Readers of my blog know that I’ve seen God moving in my life more powerfully this year.

Check out my April posts if you want to see recent origins of what’s happening now. (Of course, you can trace this season of my life back to John Guenther, a lover of God from Solana Beach Presbyterian Church, recommending that I read The Cure by Bill Thrall, Bruce McNicol & John Lynch.)

Today I’ve had something very interesting happen to me. While some family and friends are out sharing Jesus with people in the streets, stores and malls, I’ve been home resting and letting the Lord minister to me. I took some time to lay down when I got away from the internet. I intended to actually sleep, but after a time of rest I felt God nudging me to get up.

Sometimes God is showing you something truly unexpected. I’m figuring out how to listen to him. We’re told in John 10:27-28 about Jesus’ sheep hearing his voice and receiving eternal life from him. I’m learning how to effectively hear his voice (though not in an audible way).

Again, if you’re a reader of my blog you know that one reason I started it is that God gave me a brand that I’m bringing to the world. I’m thinking about who I want to print my prototype shirt and I was asking God about it. I’ve wondered who he might want me to use if I actually care to ask him. He was getting my attention and I was asking him if it was really true that my sense was correct.

My sense was that God might be telling me that I shouldn’t use the place I visited the other day. The Lord knows I don’t know all about them, just that they’ve been around for decades. I wondered if I should try someone else in the same area or a guy I used to tutor with that I haven’t thought about recently.

Then the Lord put a face in my head. Pedro Enriquez is a man I know from my time tutoring at Reality Changers (RC) and we’re connected on Facebook. He used to be in charge of the Solana Beach section of RC. I know Pedro to be a faithful man of God, but I wasn’t sure about a connection to t-shirt printing.

Soon after arriving at his Facebook page I realized that God had something different than t-shirts in mind for me today. Holy Spirit has been reaching me powerfully through tears recently and this was no exception. I saw Pedro’s post of Jamie Gates speaking at TedX PLNU (Point Loma Nazarene University) and I felt that this video was what God wanted me to see even before I pressed play. I realize that some people might be skeptical of this situation, but as I believe I’ve heard Patricia King say:

“Your knower knows.”

In this process God also gave me a great post for Saturday, October 29, 2016. He gave me other stuff today, but that’s for another time. I strongly urge you to watch NOW and allow God to bless you by showing you something good and unexpected.

God loves you!
