Invite Holy Spirit

You can always invite Holy Spirit into what you’re doing.

That’s what I did before I started typing today.

Loving God with all your heart has practical aspects to it. It’s not simply a set of beliefs. In fact, it’s not a religion.

My nephew and a friend started creating t-shirts a few years ago with this message:

Relationship Not Religion

We as Christians can’t just believe that Jesus is who he claims to be in the Bible. If we look closely, we will see that even demons believed that the Jesus of the scriptures was and is the Son of God. They believed, yet they did not follow him.

The passage below is Mark 1:21-28 (NIV) from BibleGateway.com:

21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.

Just under a year ago I met a young man named Gilbert in front of a 7-11 in Pacific Beach (a community of San Diego, California) and ended up praying with him. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and promised to give his life to Jesus.

Because I’ve been practicing “hearing” from Holy Spirit more intently the past couple years I felt a nudge to turn left on Garnet Avenue that day. I remember the exact day because I was going to meet family at Comic-Con and it was the day I absolutely knew (for the first time) that I had finished reading the entire Bible. That was July 21, 2017.

How do I practice “hearing” from Holy Spirit? I read the Bible more. I spend more time in prayer in my “secret place” and I invite Holy Spirit into what I’m doing.

God loves you so much that you’re likely to have a hard time believing HOW much.

He wants to spend time with you and just like other relationships, you will grow closer by spending time together.

Be intentional about spending time with God.

Praise Him.

Worship Him.

Invite Him to spend time with you!

Brian Simmons In The House!

What a conference we’re having at The Fire & Glory Outpouring at Heart of God Church in San Diego, California! Elisha Revolution is calling this the Word & Spirit conference. Thursday night Charlie Robinson from Canada spoke and for me, Charlie is someone I can listen to preach longer than just about anyone. He helped us bring in 2017 at Summit Church in San Marcos by preaching for around four hours! If you’re on Instagram you can find his son, Sam Robinson as @VoiceOfRevival.

Last night Brian Simmons, The Passion Translation translator, preached about the importance of the bible and today his emphasis was on Holy Spirit. I urge you to watch last night first. You can catch the Friday night preachers at 1:22:00 with just the very tail end of worship or start at the beginning if you don’t want to miss all that worship. If you’ve come from Instagram I need to correct my mistake as Friday night was Night 592 of Fire & Glory, not 593, which will be in about an hour after I finish typing this post.

This morning was part two of Brian Simmons and you can still catch some of the flavor of worship with the final(?) song at 40:00.

Of course, you can watch past revival nights (or “episodes” as I sometimes call them) by searching Fire & Glory Outpouring on Youtube or by visiting ElishaRevolution.com.

In case you’re wondering, I’m just an enthusiastic worshiper of God. I’m not a volunteer or staffer of Fire & Glory. I discovered this revival a little over two years ago when I came back from a conference in Pasadena that really turned my heart (and head) around and gave me a renewed fire for Jesus, Daddy God & Holy Spirit.

The time to join us in revival is now! God bless you!

More Joy In The New Year!

Happy New Year! 2018! Wow!

I urge you to add a great new habit (If you already do this, well, that’s wonderful!) to whatever you’re doing in this new year.

Today I’ve been listening to a lot of music and I want to share one of my tips so you can experience more joy this year. Ready?

Listen To More Music MORE OFTEN that reflects the uplifting words we find in the Bible. Don’t miss out on the benefits of this habit!

What I’ve noticed during this time of revival in my life is that I listen to some songs less often because I’m filling my life with more of the great (and sometimes awesome!) faith music I’ve been discovering at the Fire & Glory Outpouring, church services, christian radio, Youtube and elsewhere.

If you’re like most people you’ve listened to a lot of secular music and some songs stick with you over the course of your life more than others. One of my favorites is “Girlfriend Is Better” by Talking Heads. I still like the bands I like such as Talking Heads, The Beatles, R.E.M., The Cars, The Who, Marvin Gaye, The Pretenders and lots more.

BUT, I see a greater depth to christian music these days than I’ve ever seen before and I feel encouraged and uplifted more often when I listen to these contemporary artists. I never expected to find Lauren Daigle’s great song about dry bones!

In addition to Lauren I’ve recently I’ve found myself listening about 80% of the time to christian artists like Crowder, Plumb, Kristene DiMarco, REND Collective, NEEDTOBREATHE, Steffany Gretzinger, Kari Jobe, Micah Tyler, Jeremy Riddle, Mandisa, Toby Mac, Big Daddy Weave, WorshipMob, Switchfoot, Andrew Hopkins and others.

My list also includes numerous artists through Bethel Music and Hillsong (some of whom were mentioned above). Bethel Music has some wonderful instrumentals as well and sooo much music. Hillsong? I’ve heard people say something like “Hillsong was Bethel before Bethel was Bethel.” What about Andrew Hopkins? Andrew Hopkins is at Summit Music, which is the label connected to Summit Church in San Marcos, California. He also leads worship regularly at The Fire & Glory Outpouring so it’s possible that I’ve heard Andrew Hopkins more than anyone in the last couple years.

We now have our TV set up so that we can watch Youtube on it and that is definitely a blessing. As I write this the lyric video for Point To You by We Are Messengers played as well as All My Hope by Crowder featuring Tauren Wells and Worship Mob’s cover of So Will I (100 Billion X). What a great change to our viewing habits!

You can do fun stuff like find songs of adoration. Worship Mob is doing that below. After So Will I are two more songs of the day. Because this post has been difficult to get done I’m ending it here.

Happy New Year! God Bless You!

Press On!

Fire & Glory Outpouring @ 500+

Tonight will be Night #511 of the Fire & Glory Outpouring. Watch it at ElishaRevolution.com and don’t forget the Elisha Revolution app for your phone!

For those who haven’t read it, here’s where I started this part of my journey with the Lord. I’ll give you a minute to read it…Go ahead. I’ll wait.

Thanks for reading that post about my experience at Power and Love in Pasadena in April of 2016. Not only did I hear Todd White speak, but I also heard a missionary named Heidi Baker.

Heidi and her husband, Rolland, minister to the poorest of the poor in Mozambique and have started many churches through their ministry, Iris Global. (One of the reasons Heidi is special to me is she is the first person I remember hearing call God the Father by this name: Daddy God. I loved that the first time I heard it and now I usually refer to Daddy God when I pray, as in: Holy Spirit, Jesus and Daddy God.)

Oceans of people have come to know Jesus because of Heidi & Rolland and they are spiritual Mama & Papa to many.

Tonight, one of those spiritual sons will be the speaker at the Fire & Glory Outpouring in Rancho Bernardo. His name is Dr. Gershom Sikaala. I expect great things and so should you! Join me at Fire & Glory at 7 pm tonight! Watch online!

Today’s song of the day is “Rescuer” by Rend Collective.

Press On!

O’ Lord

Here’s the song of the day with lyrics! Happy Sunday!

O’ Lord by Lauren Daigle

Though times it seems
Like I’m coming undone
This walk can often feel lonely
No matter what until this race is won
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh, O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face this I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

Your strength is found
At the end of my road
Your grace it reaches to the hurting
Still through the tears and the questioning why
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh, O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face This I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

(Right, so right)
Make it right
(Right, so right)
Make it right, right

I will stand my ground
I will stand my ground
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh! O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face this I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right (take all the wrong)
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

(Right, so right)
Make it right
(Right, so right)
Make it right, right

Smiling Sheep

Last night was the second night in a row of Bobby Conner preaching at the Fire & Glory Outpouring and night 493 of the revival (and session 201 for me!). Bobby shared more of his personal testimony of God keeping him alive. (I’m pretty sure he’ll be back Sunday night the 26th, but check with Fire & Glory.)

We were invited to come up front and worship and I often see things “in the Spirit” when I worship now. Last night was no exception. One of the things I saw was a smiling sheep which was a representation of me. I am reminded of Psalm 121:8 (NASB) which goes like this:

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Jesus is the good shepherd and we are the sheep of his hand. The verse above seems written in the same vein, with Jesus being the shepherd and you (and me) being the sheep.

John 10:11

11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

Psalm 95:7-8

7 For He is our God,
And we are the people of His [a]pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Today, [b]if you would hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at [c]Meribah,
As in the day of [d]Massah in the wilderness,

[ All passages are from the New American Standard Bible (NASB) ]

While reading the quotes above I noticed Psalm 95:8 and included it because I think it’s a great gem of a reminder. To me, this reminder is extremely important.

Essentially: If you would [want to] hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.

The song of the day is [are you ready for this!?]…ta dah!…
Peter Frampton’s “Baby I Love Your Way”!

As always…

Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 (NASB)

See Jack Preach

If you’re like me you like to see different preachers throughout the year. We love Mike McClenahan at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church and Mark McElwee at Heart of God Church in Rancho Bernardo and others in our local area, but the Fire & Glory Outpouring has let us see probably 30 other preachers from around the world in the last year and a half.

Tonight we’ll see Charlie Robinson from Canada to close out that revival’s “I Got The Joy” conference.

This morning we decided to do something different and see Jack Hayford at Grace San Marcos. We even saw a friend from Fire & Glory who, when she saw us, said something like, “You guys are everywhere!”

My wife and I do get around and that led us to the 10 am service this morning as I really wanted to see Dr. Hayford preach because I had never had the privilege before today. We were greeted as soon as we came through the door by Brian Bauer and others. Brian is Jack Hayford’s grandson and the pastor at Grace here in San Marcos. You can read more about Brian and his wife, Melissa, at the Grace link above.

Personally, I urge you to see more than just the preacher at your local church. Even if you can’t attend you can watch a lot of preaching and worship on Youtube.

There’s a long list of wonderful speakers that I could share, but here’s a few to get you started:

Jerame & Miranda Nelson (Elisha Revolution/Fire & Glory)

Shawn Bolz

Darren Stott

Sam Robinson

Georgian & Winnie (Coco) Banov

Mahesh & Bonnie Chavda

Chad Dedmon

Tony Kim

Kris Kildosher

Patricia King

David & Stephanie Herzog

I hope you’ll check out each one of them on Youtube!

By the way, we loved Jack’s preaching this morning along with the worship.

Here’s the song of the day which I searched out early this morning and finally found on this list from Air1.
