O’ Lord

Here’s the song of the day with lyrics! Happy Sunday!

O’ Lord by Lauren Daigle

Though times it seems
Like I’m coming undone
This walk can often feel lonely
No matter what until this race is won
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh, O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face this I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

Your strength is found
At the end of my road
Your grace it reaches to the hurting
Still through the tears and the questioning why
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh, O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face This I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

(Right, so right)
Make it right
(Right, so right)
Make it right, right

I will stand my ground
I will stand my ground
I will stand my ground where hope can be found
I will stand my ground where hope can be found

Oh! O’Lord O’Lord I know You hear my cry
Your love is lifting me above all the lies
No matter what I face this I know in time
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right (take all the wrong)
You’ll take all that is wrong and make it right

(Right, so right)
Make it right
(Right, so right)
Make it right, right

Smiling Sheep

Last night was the second night in a row of Bobby Conner preaching at the Fire & Glory Outpouring and night 493 of the revival (and session 201 for me!). Bobby shared more of his personal testimony of God keeping him alive. (I’m pretty sure he’ll be back Sunday night the 26th, but check with Fire & Glory.)

We were invited to come up front and worship and I often see things “in the Spirit” when I worship now. Last night was no exception. One of the things I saw was a smiling sheep which was a representation of me. I am reminded of Psalm 121:8 (NASB) which goes like this:

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Jesus is the good shepherd and we are the sheep of his hand. The verse above seems written in the same vein, with Jesus being the shepherd and you (and me) being the sheep.

John 10:11

11 “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.

Psalm 95:7-8

7 For He is our God,
And we are the people of His [a]pasture and the sheep of His hand.
Today, [b]if you would hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts, as at [c]Meribah,
As in the day of [d]Massah in the wilderness,

[ All passages are from the New American Standard Bible (NASB) ]

While reading the quotes above I noticed Psalm 95:8 and included it because I think it’s a great gem of a reminder. To me, this reminder is extremely important.

Essentially: If you would [want to] hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.

The song of the day is [are you ready for this!?]…ta dah!…
Peter Frampton’s “Baby I Love Your Way”!

As always…

Delight yourself in the LORD;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4 (NASB)

See Jack Preach

If you’re like me you like to see different preachers throughout the year. We love Mike McClenahan at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church and Mark McElwee at Heart of God Church in Rancho Bernardo and others in our local area, but the Fire & Glory Outpouring has let us see probably 30 other preachers from around the world in the last year and a half.

Tonight we’ll see Charlie Robinson from Canada to close out that revival’s “I Got The Joy” conference.

This morning we decided to do something different and see Jack Hayford at Grace San Marcos. We even saw a friend from Fire & Glory who, when she saw us, said something like, “You guys are everywhere!”

My wife and I do get around and that led us to the 10 am service this morning as I really wanted to see Dr. Hayford preach because I had never had the privilege before today. We were greeted as soon as we came through the door by Brian Bauer and others. Brian is Jack Hayford’s grandson and the pastor at Grace here in San Marcos. You can read more about Brian and his wife, Melissa, at the Grace link above.

Personally, I urge you to see more than just the preacher at your local church. Even if you can’t attend you can watch a lot of preaching and worship on Youtube.

There’s a long list of wonderful speakers that I could share, but here’s a few to get you started:

Jerame & Miranda Nelson (Elisha Revolution/Fire & Glory)

Shawn Bolz

Darren Stott

Sam Robinson

Georgian & Winnie (Coco) Banov

Mahesh & Bonnie Chavda

Chad Dedmon

Tony Kim

Kris Kildosher

Patricia King

David & Stephanie Herzog

I hope you’ll check out each one of them on Youtube!

By the way, we loved Jack’s preaching this morning along with the worship.

Here’s the song of the day which I searched out early this morning and finally found on this list from Air1.

What’s Going On

Today I met with a buddy I’ve known for years to tell him I’ve made a big decision that I’ll talk about in a later post. I highly recommend V’s Coffee Shop at the Bernardo Winery in Rancho Bernardo.

Right now my wife, Marianne, and our friend, Javier, are trying to get Youtube up on our TV and it looks like they’ve succeeded! We’re studying prophecy with some friends tonight and now we’ll have real “music television” for some worship time.

Earlier I was starting to memorize Psalm 8.

Before that I met with a coffee shop buddy who’s an atheist at the Blue Mug in Escondido and I shared a little about what I’ve been learning. He’s a very nice guy. He even helped deliver and move a couch into our house (when I wasn’t even home to help!) that another coffee buddy and his mom gave us before that buddy moved to Virginia Beach.

Very early this morning when I woke up from an interesting dream I sensed the song of the day in just a few notes. I “pressed in” and soon I had a little more and then a little bit more than that. That start to my day reminded me of 1 Kings 18:44 when Elijah saw the tiny cloud and he told Ahab to get off the mountain before the rains came.

Here’s “Run Devil Run” by Crowder:

You Make Me Brave

Over the last couple months more often than not I sense the Lord giving me a song of the day. Usually this happens between 3 am and 6 am and today he gave me a repeat of the day before yesterday just before 6 am. Repeats don’t happen often, so I decided to take a closer look at the lyrics today. Here’s a You Make Me Brave lyric video of the song by Amanda Cook & Bethel Music.

Sunday’s song of the day was Be Enthroned by Jeremy Riddle. Enjoy.

Holy Spirit Agrees!!!

While I was driving to Trader Joe’s this afternoon I heard Zach Williams’ “Chain Breaker” and told the Lord that it’s a nice song. I felt he said, “Yes it is!!!”

Here is Zach Williams’ “Chain Breaker”:

If you’ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to feel the same old holes inside
There’s a better life
There’s a better life

If you’ve got pain
He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost
He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains
He’s a chain breaker

We’ve all search for the light of day in the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
And there’s a better life
There’s a better life

If you believe it
If you receive it
If you can feel it
Somebody testify

God’s Timing This Year

Today I was reflecting on how I came to meet a man from another part of the world a couple weeks ago (I believe) because I was listening to the Lord. I understand that some may be skeptical, but I believe we get better with practice and I’ve been practicing. During these last 14 months I’ve been practicing quite a lot. And, it’s more than simply belief when you see the results in your life.

Because I met this man I decided to start a project to send 500,000 bibles across the world to a place that doesn’t have easy access to power and therefore, not much internet usage. That means shipping actual bibles instead of virtual ones.

In order for me to meet this man I had to be where he was in San Marcos before he went back home. He was at The Fire & Glory Outpouring on a Thursday night and a man named David asked me at the end of the meeting if I would give the visitor (who I’ll call Peter) a ride back to the Motel 6 in Escondido. I said that I would do that as soon as I said goodbye to someone.

Because saying goodbye took so long, Peter found another ride home. I caught up with him and the man giving him a ride in the parking lot of Summit Church and he asked if I could pick him up where he was staying the next morning. I agreed and that made all the difference in my weekend.

After the morning Fresh Awakening session at The Fire & Glory Outpouring I invited Peter to come to my house for the afternoon before the evening session with Jamie Galloway as guest speaker. I didn’t realize that my wife wouldn’t be able to spend time with us after she got off work that day. Others in the house were busy as well which meant that 95% of the conversation that Friday was just between Peter and me.

We got along quite well and I found myself offering to give him a ride for the entire weekend, which meant at least 10 more rides including to Solana Beach Presbyterian Church (our home church) at 8:30 Sunday morning. During the weekend I found that he hadn’t secured a ride to the airport so I picked him up before 7 on Monday and took him to Lindbergh field.

Wait! There’s more! We didn’t just ride together, but we worshiped together over and over. I highly recommend this strategy for growing closer to someone. By Monday morning we weren’t just friends, but brothers. He even invited me to preach over Skype sometime which is a real growth opportunity.

You may be wondering why I mentioned God’s timing in the title of this post.

Months ago as I was seeking to hear from the Lord I felt that he was telling me that it’s OK to go to Comic-Con in 2017, but not the World Series of Poker. As I mentioned earlier, because I listened to God I was able to meet and get to know Peter BECAUSE I was in San Marcos, California.

This afternoon I decided to take a closer look at the May calendar to see about God’s timing. You may not even know about the World Series of Poker(WSOP), but I have been there before and months ago I had been sincerely thinking about going after missing this “festival of poker tournaments” in recent years.

If I had decided to go to the WSOP I would likely have only given Peter a ride on Friday morning and then driven to Las Vegas, Nevada after dropping him off back at the Motel 6. It’s very possible that I would have never met Peter because I could have gone up even earlier to spend time with a friend who lives there and be plenty rested before I entered one of the poker tournaments.

It should be obvious to everyone that if I was in Las Vegas, Nevada during late May I wouldn’t have been able to get to know Peter who was in San Marcos, California for just over four days.

Great stuff can happen when we worship God “in Spirit and in Truth”. We might just be able to hear stuff from Him that He really, really wants us to know.

David Herzog is coming this week. Will you be there?

You never know who you’re going to meet. Except Jesus.

He’ll meet you there with His perfect timing!
