If you’ve read my most recent posts you might be wondering, “Did Charlie just take two months to spend more time with God? What a huge commitment!”
The answer to that is No and Yes. I want to be truthful and say that I have been worshiping God a little more often in the last couple months. The last almost two weeks has meant even more time spent with the Lord and the last few days have been pretty intense. Actually, fervent would be a better word. I don’t want to get into a fervent-off with anyone, but I am definitely more fervent than I was 13 months ago!
Below are a couple of potent prayer passages from BibleGateway.com that I find practical and powerful in everyday life:
Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.
James 5:16-18 The Message
Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 The Message
As I write this I just noticed that both passages come from Chapter 5, verses 16-18 in both James and 1 Thessalonians. Maybe these will be easier to memorize in tandem because of the chapter and verse being exactly the same.
Prayer makes a difference and more prayer makes even more difference!
Our son’s moving back in today and there’s a lot going on, so I’ll be back later this week.
Keep praying, Brothers And Sisters!
Today I intentionally spent hours in the presence of God. I know God is immanent (everywhere), but I mean paying attention and listening for God as well as reading the bible and praying [again, praying includes listening].
After having a good conversation with a friend from Tennessee who’s more experienced in gifts like the prophetic I drove to Solana Beach to get a haircut at my favorite place, the Cove Barber Shop.
On the way I felt the Lord nudge me with “Do You Love Me?” and I can even sense that it was the version from the movie, “Dirty Dancing” by The Contours. I discovered The Blues Brothers version first and both are below.
Here’s something to consider:
Is Holy Spirit singing this to the church? Keep in mind that if God is singing the lyrics they would be sung with perfectly pure intentions, unlike how humans often sing them.
Press On, Brothers & Sisters, Press On!
We need to remember to rest simply because we’re currently in these earthly bodies. I like these verses and hope you enjoy them and the music of Jaci Velasquez.
Exodus 33:14 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
14 And He said, “My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Psalm 3:5 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
5 [a]I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the Lord sustains me.

God bless you!
Here I am about seven hours after Shawn Bolz finished preaching last night and I am somewhat tired, but I’m excited! I honestly think his message was likely the best sermon I’ve ever heard! The reason I’m so over the moon about is that I believe he shared a huge part of “how to” about our faith.
Do you ever feel like you’ve been told what you’re supposed to do but now you have to figure out how? I’m going to watch Shawn’s message again, but what I heard sounded a lot like HOW TO DO the things we’re called to do in FAITH.
Another way to look at the “how” is to say that he gave us “keys” last night. I’m PUMPED! [ I may LOOK groggy, but am definitely highly encouraged. 😉 ]
Matthew 11:30 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) – Yoke just got EASIER and burden LIGHTENED!
Shawn Bolz is introduced at around 2:19:20.
God bless you!
